LSA New Features April 2025

On April 28, 2025, the Administrative Office of the United States Courts (AO) deployed OSCAR release 5.5 with the following enhancements for law school administrators and applicants.

Recommendation Letters

Positions can require a maximum of 5 recommendations, and applicants must request exactly the number recommendations specified in a position posting. So, if a position lists "3" for Number of Recommendations Required, the applicant must request 3 recommendations when applying to the position.

Note: If a position lists "0" for Number of Recommendations Required, applicants can request between 0 and 5 recommendations. A judge or staff attorney office would typically use this option if they are accepting a combination of recommendations and references.

Clerkship Type Added to Judicial Directory

The Clerkship Details tab of OSCAR's Judicial Directory now displays the clerkship type for each clerkship listed.

Updated Applications Packets

OSCAR introduced a new look and feel for application packets that improves readability with an updated layout and web-friendly fonts.
